Each diver is responsible for their own safety...Ty - AOW / Dive Shop Manager September 7, 2008 at 08:48:16It's hard to take sides because I wasn't there. But, by the time students are in the pool, they should have done there homework, classroom
sessions and taken a written test.
Thus, the student should have been aware of the risks involved with diving and the importance of never holding your breath, especially during an ascent. In my opinion, the teacher should only be held responsible for the students death if they put a student in the pool without teaching about the risks first. After the knowledge is taught, each diver is responsible for their own safety. I can't sue Jack Daniels and Chevrolet because my friend got drunk and drove his truck into a tree.
