Scuba diving instructors must stay with their students...

Mike - Master Instructor / Project Manager

What a tragic event. If the allegations are true that the instructor was not present in front of the student during the ascent, shame on the instructor. I can not imagine any certifying agency allowing an instructor to be out of arm's reach of a student during a deep ascent without scuba gear in place. Instructors need to be able to stop a student's ascent if the student fails to exhale slowly on ascent. I hope the allegations are inaccurate and am sorry for the loss of a new diver.
