My shark diving epiphany...

Like most people I know including both divers and non-divers, I really respect and want to protect sharks as the apex predators nature intended them to be.  I have seen sharks many times while diving and what I learned observing these fascinating animals is that they are very beautiful and beautifully elusive. Obviously nature designed them to head off in another direction when they encounter apes, the only real-life monsters on our small and fragile planet.

That's why shark baiting/feeding is absolutely wrong.  The baiters/feeders provoke the sharks to get the maximum "WOW" factor because that's what it takes to get selfish, stupid people who don't respect nature and don't really respect sharks to pull out their credit cards.  It's not enough to just go diving and have a natural shark sighting.  No, they demand close-up photos of manipulated sharks that they can sell or impress everybody with back home in the boring burbs.

Please understand that the shark that killed Markus Groh did so only because Jim Abernethy provoked the animal as part of his sleezy, eco-unfriendly and shark-unfriendly business.  It's only when the natural instincts of the sharks have been exploited and distorted by shark baiting profiteers like Jim Abernethy that they resemble JAWS.
