As you condition wild animals to respond to food, they gradually lose their natural fear of humans.  That makes them an easy target for shark finners and sport fishers.

The underwater photographers say they cannot make money unless they use bait because sharks are naturally extremely wary of humans. My advice to photographers would be to leave nature alone and find another line of work if you can't make a living without deliberately endangering marine wildlife by destroying their natural defense mechanisms.
