November 30, 2007 at 23:10:05I became certified with my son when he was 12. It depends on the whether the kid has respect for the danger and is ready for the technical challenge. Mine was so safety conscious -to the point that
sometimes he was a drag, not taking any risks at all (like 10ft deeper). A former b.f of mine obtained his naui certificaton at the age of 9 before the age of children were even considered. Kids die on football fields every year. The key word is moderation, and supervision. It's good to introduce kids to as many experiences as possible, and diving has given my kid a profound love for the sea. After ward he didnot want to go to seaworld because of the captive whales.
He's 22 now. |
