Full physical required for scuba diving if you are over 40...Shar - Instructor / Analyst
March 7, 2008 at 15:51:02I do not know about all agencies but mine requires a full physical and Dr. Release to participate in dive training if you are 40 or over
or have any medical issues whatsoever. The Divers Alert Network at Duke University in N. Carolina are the experts of the experts in Dive Medicine. I'm positive they have lots of info on this topic. Ultimately you are responsible for your own health.
Eating right, staying fit and paying attention to your physician is common sense here! If you are uncertain about diving, see your doctor (and be sure and choose one with some diving background, they are NOT all alike). When in doubtget a second opinion and email DAN! Contacted DAN many times regarding student health issues and they are back to me most of the time in less than 24 hours with answers to any questions you have. Hope this helps somewhat!
