As a Scuba Diving Magazine ex-subscriber, I can assure you it's not worth killing the trees to produce such boring drivel. I really don't have a problem with print media promoting their advertisers. That's the old media tradition and why not? After all, the advertisers underwrite the high cost of publishing newspapers and magazines. The problem with Scuba Diving Magazine is not that the content is driven by advertisers — it's that the writing and photography is so mediocre, the articles always fall far short of their objective, which is obviously to motivate us to reach for our credit cards and book a trip or buy some scuba diving equipment. Someone in another forum commented that they consider Scuba Diving Magazine a contrary indicator. I'm afraid I have to agree.
