Dive industry whore of the month award goes to Doug Pike - Houston Chronicle...

Re: "Nevertheless -- and despite Hollywood's questionable depiction recently in Open Water -- the dive industry's worldwide safety record is excellent. Dive
operators keep keen eyes on participants, and the industry enforces strict certification rules. Problems arise occasionally, but contemporary masks, fins, snorkels, regulators and buoyancy compensators (BCs) are far better than they were even a few years ago."  Doug Pike - Houston Chronicle

Just finished reading Doug Pike's piece in the Houston Chronicle.  What a hoot!  Wonder how much DEMA paid for that trash and how much Pike got from Hughes to put him in the spotlight as the authority on scuba diving safety.  Pike even manages to slip in a jab at Open Water.

"Dive operators keep keen eyes on participants"??? Tell it to Tom and Eileen Lonergan.  (if only they had been equipped with "contemporary snorkels".)
