Please do not forget the grief...
Deborah Estes - Sister-in-Law to Ray Mars

As I sit here today on the one year anniversary of this tragedy, I try to compose my thoughts. It is so hard at times to believe it has been a year--at other times the pain of loss seems so fresh. Our entire family grieves for the loss of Ray Mars. I see my sister, Ray's widow Teresa Mars, as she tries to cope with the void in her life each day. The pain she continues to endure is, at times, unbearable. Their son Ray Mars also suffers from the loss of the father he was so close to. Time has not begun to heal for them.
I remember today Ray's mother and father, R.T. and Fran Mars as they cope with the tragic loss of their son, and Jim Mars who lost his only brother.
When I think of all the people affected by the death of Ray, I then think of compounding that by the nineteen others who were killed that day and realize just how many people suffer as we do.
I will pray today for each of those killed and all their families and friends who were devastated by this horrible tragedy.
In honor of Ray's love of diving, each in my family is wearing one of his dive shirts which were lovingly given to us by Teresa. Please do not forget the grief we still suffer while it is 'business as usual' for Peter Hughes & Co.
