Peter Hughes and the Wave Dancer captain did not act prudently...

Holly Hill - Daughter of Wave Dancer victims Bill and Shiela Kelly
August 22, 2002 at 20:58:51

As the daughter of Bill and Sheila Kelley, I would like to share some of my thoughts on this situation. The divers aboard the Wave Dancer were not experts in meteorology or seamanship. They were divers on vacation.

Bill and Sheila were celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary as they usually did, diving. I know my parents, how they thought, how they would have reacted in a serious situation. They may have loved diving but they loved life more.

Peter Hughes and the captain of the Wave Dancer had a responsibility for the safety and well-being of their crew and passangers. That responsibility was not met. It is not my intention to destroy Peter Hughes.

However, I feel that it is important the whole diving community, those that aspire to be a diver and their friends and family know the careless attitude of Peter Hughes and his company when it comes to safety aboard his ships.  It could save their lives or the lives of a loved one. I do believe justice will be served and I leave that up to God.
