Nigel Benson - Recreational Diver October 20, 2001 at 16:51:49 There are many villians in this story including, as usual, the corporate lawyers Hughes has on retainer to crank out the same old dive industry spin. The loss of life is tragic but what is most depressing about these accidents is the way the dive industry always tries to cover up the facts. What caused the accident? Hurricane? Tornado? Storm surge? NO. That's what turned the boat over. What actually caused the loss of 20 lives was the corporate greed and negligence that resulted in the decision to leave the passengers on the boat.
