DAN's medical hotline does not work and there is better diver insurance...

Forget about DAN's medical hotline if you are a dive traveler because the telephones don't work. The better plan is to dive with reputable diver operators with high levels of emergency preparedness. If there's a problem, they can take of you much better than some guy in North Carolina who doesn't have a clue.
As for insurance, DAN is the worst to deal with for claims. Any of the other dive insurance companies are better.
