Jennifer Strom's article exposes Bennett's unsavory character but she badly misses the mark when she equates DAN's growth with success and attributes it to Bennett's entrepreneurial vision and management expertise.
In fact, the bulging bottom line resulted from overall growth in the dive industry and says more about what's wrong with DAN, and Peter Bennett's failure to fulfill DAN's mission, than what's right.
Despite DAN's stated mission to provide divers with medical information, safety programs and assistance no matter where they are and where they go diving, DAN's global network is a disorganized mess thanks to Peter Bennett's failure to envision, develop, administrate and manage a cohesive and uniform worldwide DAN network that delivers on its promises.
That, and the unethical conduct Strom accurately describes, are Peter Bennett's sad and unseemly legacy to DAN, its members and divers throughout the world.
