Problem? They get a false sense of accomplishment...

Here's the problem.  It gives them a false sense of accomplishment.  I've had some people tell me that they are divers only to find out they don't know an OK signal from a thumbs up! What if they talk to someone who takes their word for it? You end up with a blind leading an imbecile. Sorry, but I've seen too many of those here: Weight belts unhooked underwater, boat diving with the valve off etc. And these are certified open water divers!!
