Actually, PADI Scuba Diver is the C-Card not accepted "anywhere"...Maurice O - AOW/ TranslatorAugust 4, 2006 at 21:03:09The entire scuba diving industry has lined up behind the 3 and 4-day Open
Water course and they all accept each other's certifications so it's really just alphabet soup. No certification agency that I know of offers the kind of comprehensive Open Water training that would take a month or more. They've all adopted the step-by-step system which works well for "marketing and sales" because it gives dive shop owners more stuff to sell. The PADI Scuba Diver C-card is one exception. It's unique to PADI and not accepted by other agencies.
It's quick and it's cheap but with that certification, you would be limited to diving within PADI's network of dive shops, resorts, divemasters and instructors. Apart from the many safety concerns discussed here about certifying divers who have only done an abbreviated entry-level course, it is the one card that would not be accepted "anywhere". |
