PADI 5-Star dive shops more like fast-food joints than fine restaurants...

It's actually quite amusing to 1) monitor the lunacy that spills out of PADI's marketing department and 2) witness the stupidity of the average joe who attaches significance to things like "5-star dive shops" and "PADI Project Aware Eco Operators".
For all intents and purposes, PADI's dive shop network resembles Macdonald's more than any other business model I can think of. When the big boys in LA put a quickie like PADI Scuba Diver on the menu, the franchise owners all start jumping up and down in anticipation of how much money they can make selling it.
As for the featured "PADI Project Aware Eco Operators", it looks more like a urgent warning list of the dive industry's worst polluters.
