So what's the problem?...

So, what's the problem? There are people around who like to dive, but feel happier doing so with a dive professional ie instructor or divemaster. If they are willing to pay the extra $$$ to do that, why not. We all know that the Open Water certification is really just a "learner's licence", and hopefully we will actually turn into competent divers through experience.

I would also be interested in finding out how "self-certified diver" managed to certify him/herself? Book-learning is one thing, but how about the practical skills?
