New PADI divers, what did you learn?...

New PADI divers, what did you learn? Did the instructor rip the regulator from your mouth, or have you remove it?  What happens in the real world? Did your instructor pull your mask off your face, or have you fill it slowly with water?  Again, what happens in the real world?  Finally, define 'Free Breathing' and why you might need to know how to. I talk to new PADI divers in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and they scare me. PADI was good, in the 1970's when I got my certification.
