Experience is the key and diving within your limits...Marc - Recreational DiverFebruary 7, 2001 14:54:50I just took up diving this summer at age 42 at a newly opened PADI dive shop. Like David's experience
they did not even mention the 'Scuba Diver' course but started with 'Open Water'. I was issued C-Cards for both after the completion of the course. I felt that my instructor and the course were top notch, although, like a lot of training courses it gives you just barely enough to get started. My instructor has always encouraged me to continue my education, which I intend to do. I recognize that this sport requires self-discipline, a commitment to continuing education and participation.
I hope all novice divers come away with a healthy respect for the inherent dangers of this sport and not try to dive beyond they're limits. You can't take a short course and come back out six months later and be a good diver. Experience counts! Dive Safe! |
