Poor instruction leads to poor divers...

I agree with most of what is being said...a short-order course in diving isn't enough to certify someone for open-water.  I've had my advanced license for about 1.5 years and I'm quite appalled at the level of competency some "advanced" divers have. I've been kicked in the head by so-called advanced divers, left alone by a buddy when I had an equipment failure, and find that some divers just aren't aware of others, which makes diving with them extremely dangerous. I have no idea who certified these divers, but the point really is that no matter how long the course, if the dive instructor is more interested in money than safety, it doesn't matter how long or short the course is, poor instruction still leads to poor divers.
