Scuba diving a risky sport?Tom - Open Water Diver/Student
September 23, 2007 at 09:24:51As beginner divers, we are very upset to hear about the death of these divers.
We live close to this diving area and were probably going to dive there eventually. We had no knowledge that this was a dangerous place based on what we've been told. Apparently signs are posted but there must be some misunderstanding concerning them. I think maybe there should be more signs posted along the river and made more clear on why it is unsafe. Although this incident is rare, apparently the hydro company (OPG) should have did more to warn them since
knowing that this is a very popular dive area (a horn sound, boats patrolling during the maintenance). More action should have been taken to prevent this accident. Our hearts and thoughts go out to the families and friends of these divers. As divers, we all are connected as one. |
