The suggestion that nitrox is unlikely to have carbon monoxide does not take into account blending methods. A continious flow blending system CAN have high co levels as it is a regular compressor with O2 mixed in at the intake. This may enrich the gas but will not remove CO. Most divers do not ask what method is used to blend. Only Partial Pressure blending requires hyperclean air. An O2 analyzer will only show the percentage of O2 and not other gasses in the mix. The CSA in Canada is now looking at recommending that all compressors in Canada have a CO monitor installed and this is becoming routine in the SCUBA industry already. At a cost of only a couple hundred bucks it can be a low cost life saver.
