According to Adelaide Scuba, CDNN fabricated David Oliver's statements...

According to Adelaide Scuba, David Oliver never said anything about killing sharks.  And Adelaide Scuba says it's not a misquote but that CDNN fabricated (aka lied) everything and that PADI and the Diving Industry Association of South Australia are going to sue them.  Here's the Adelaide Scuba post from another board.

"...I have always bit my tongue and stayed away from engaging in any of the many "discussions" that go on in these forums. I've always lived by the motto "it's better to keep my mouth shut and have people think I'm an idiot rather then opening my mouth and proving to people that I am an idiot".

But when I see a post that I know to be completely untrue I felt I needed to step forward and make you all aware.

A person with the username Jarah posted an article from the cyber-diver news network. This article is a complete fabrication and the statements were not misquoted but entire fabrications. Do you not think that if these were the things David Oliver actually said they would have been all over the newspaper and radio and television here. It strike's me as odd that a user uses his first post to bring attention to a web site based in Arizona. I have been trying to get in contact with the so called reporter's , and the president of the cyber diving society asking for an explanation but as of today have had no response. PADI and the Diving Industry Association of South Australia are looking into possible legal action against this website.

I apologize for bringing diving politics to the message boards but being a part of D.I.A.S.A. I was offended to be linked to any statement calling for the killing of a protected species. The Industry Association made a single statement that was sent to all the radio, television, and newspapers.

We need to remember the media plays on the sensationalism of these events. I did a 15 minute interview with Sonia Madigan from channel nine, talking about many different things, but all they chose to play was a 5 second bit about the shark shield. But of course the Shark Shield is a whole different forum topic isn't it.

If anyone is interested in obtaining the press release that D.I.A.S.A. issued please let me know. I'm sorry for clogging up this forum with politics but I didn't want my name or shop associated with these statements..."
