what they actually accomplished, not by a subjective assessment of their motives for such. Jacques took a world that knew little and cared less about the sea and its life to a whole new level of awareness and concern, and this at a time when it was neither fashionable nor profitable to be an environmentalist. If he made some money from that, so what? From all accounts, he did not die a rich man. The problem with Jean-Michel is that he just focuses on making
money but has contributed nothing of any note to conservation, save paid endorsements and tired platitudes tossed to admiring throngs from his lofty "Son of Jacques" pulpit. I see a huge difference between father and son. One made a difference; the other just made money. |
