Horizon Divers responsible for Kendra's death?...Jason C - Instructor/Dive Center Staff
January 21, 2007 at 23:17:48There are at least a couple of critically important things that don't add up about this accident. In some of the news reports that I read, Horizon Divers owner Dan Dawson
described Michael Motter as a "certified diver" rather than a "certified scuba diving instructor". It is puzzling that Dawson did not specifically state that Motter is a scuba diving instructor. If he is not a certified scuba diving instructor, Horizon Divers would be liable for Kendra Motter's death because PADI requires its dive centers to have an instructor in the water at all times with uncertified divers. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS. It is also difficult to believe
that Kendra Motter passed out at the surface prior to descent. It is much more likely that she lost consciousness during the dive and was pulled up to the surface. Maybe that's why Mike Ryan was attempting to destroy the evidence before police arrested him and hauled him off to jail. And maybe that's why Horizon Divers owner Dan Dawson has been lying about about the dive profile of the deceased. |
