The Economist is not a right-wing megaphone. It advocates solutions based on market mechanisms. In this case, the overwhelming importance of the eco-tourism market to Ecuador's economy trumps the insignificant value of its shark fisheries. As always, aggressive conservation contributes to the bottom line.
