I do blame PADI...Alister - Instructor & course director/Retired December 12, 2007 at 15:00:12For many years I trained non-PADI divemasters and instructors through two training agencies. My course was always a pass or fail, I trained
instructors to teach dive courses and to educate students not just to pass the instructor exam, part of the divemaster course included how to not leave divers behind. There were people who I would not train as I believed they were not going to make it in the industry—they went to PADI, two of them I've seen expelled from PADI and the others just left the industry. Becoming a divemaster/instructor is so easy that any bunny can and is doing it. The so
called Pros in the industry are interested in dollars before divers more so now than ever before. I now try to stay away from the PADI 5 Star IDC/CDC dive centres when going diving. Footnote, y'all seen the latest bumper sticker? It's "Say No To PADI PRO". Saw a couple at DEMA this year. |
