David Blaine failed twice--he did NOT set a new record for staying underwater...Ned E - AOW/Actor May 16, 2006 at 11:52:15Actually David Blaine failed twice. Although it was accurately reported that he failed to set a new record for holding his
breath, reports that he set a new record by staying underwater for 177 hours were not correct. As reported by CDNN, Khoo Swee Chiow of Singapore set the new record last December by staying underwater for 220 hours, which bettered the old mark of 212 hours and 30 minutes set in 1986 by British diver Michael Steven. http://www.cdnn.info/news/industry/i051226.html
