PADI DSAT Tec courses...

Jim - Master Instructor/Business Owner

PADI does offer Technicial diving certifications through their DSAT division. Minimum requirements include Advance, CPR/First Aid, Rescue, Nitrox and Deep Diver certifications with a minimum of 100 logged dives. While PADI may not have it as a requirement, many dive shops and instructors will organize field trips to local chambers as well as guest speakers with local diving legends.

I don't believe in passing judgement on someone's level of certification until I dive with them. I have seen students master bouyancy after only a few dives. When I see a certified diver having issues, I offer suggestions and examples in a friendly and supportive way. I constantly tell students that each dive is a chance to refresh skills and learn new experiences.

Also realize that some people have no interest to dive past 100 ft or anything colder than 80 degree water just as some people don't care to ski black diamonds or scale Everest, but may enjoy snowboarding or rock walls. As a NorthEast USA diver, I too, have dove past 130ft in 38 degree water, but I don't expect that of every diver I meet. To each their own, I say - and leave any prejudice or attitude at home.
