Fact: BSAC Advanced Diver Lesley Clark's death had nothing to do with PADI...Curtis - Rescue Diver/SalesDecember 9, 2006 at 15:18:49One wonders what Pavlov would conclude from the forum record: bang a
little on the old "BSAC bell" and it always rings back "PADI" with a lot of discordant, chest-thumping, "made in the UK" overtones. How all the PADI-bashing helps us to understand why Lesley Clark died is a bizarre mystery perhaps only Lucas Cornone, Andrew Collins and other angry, foaming-at-the-mouth BSAC members could explain. Fact: BSAC Advanced Diver Lesley Clark went scuba diving. Fact: BSAC Advanced Diver Lesley Clark made a mistake. Fact: BSAC Advanced Diver Lesley Clark died. Fact: BSAC Advanced Diver Lesley Clark's diving skills (or lack thereof) were a direct result of BSAC's diver training programs and BSAC's club system. Fact: BSAC Advanced Diver Lesley Clark's death had nothing to do with PADI, PADI entry-level diver training courses, PADI advanced level diver training courses, PADI technical diver training courses, PADI resort courses, PADI dive centers, PADI
resorts, PADI instructors, PADI divemasters, PADI Advanced Open Water divers, warm water diving nor tropical diving destinations. But the facts cannot stop BSAC members from exploiting Lesley Clark's tragic death to indulge themselves in their second favorite sport -- PADI-bashing -- which underscores another fact BSAC members prefer to ignore. BSAC's steady decline into provincialism and irrelevance has a lot more to do with BSAC's own failings than anything PADI is
doing. |
