BSAC to me is UK diving and that = cold for me. And I dont do cold...

I think the points made about dropping numbers are wrong. I think my wife and I may be typical new divers. We were in Sharm a few years ago and had a trial dive. We both loved it. So on our return we did a referal OW course with our local centre as we wanted to learn properly the theory and safety. We then did our open water dives in sharm 2 months later.

The instruction all through the whole process was safety based (we felt). We are now up to 50 dives and have done our advanced. This was done in the UK in dry suits in summer. We hated the suits (first time we had used them) and after learning and "growing" in the red sea it was cold and there was nothing to see...

I think this may sound very simplistic but this is how it seemed. So we are dedicated warm water holiday divers. Not so dedicated we do live aboards, we like beach, books, and lazy lunches too. Diving is something we love to do on holiday - we own all our own gear, we chose destinations where we can have a dip BUT we dont live for it. I think we are not alone in this.

If people learn on holiday they tend to shun cooler UK environments. If you take it seriously diving is safe, We take it VERY seriously, alarm our computers to out qualification/insurance depth, feel happy to express our own limits to guides and have dived unguided on house reefs when we felt happy to do so. Safety is a state of mind, as someone who learned at the age of 46 I was aware of my limitations and stuck with them, noted my errors and learned from them.

BSAC to me is UK diving and that = cold for me. And I dont do cold.
