Why is BSAC afraid to use the word "accident"--it doesn't appear even once in the 2005 report...

Re: "Who cares whether it's an accident report or incident report?"

And the answer is: concerned safety-conscious divers who really care about accuracy in reporting on scuba diving accidents that result in injuries or death.

BSAC deliberately avoids using the term "accidents" when describing scuba diving fatalities and injuries that clearly resulted from accidents.  The word never appears in BSAC's 2005 Diving "Incidents" Report.

That puzzling omission and what others have criticized as an unnecessarily limited sample doesn't make any sense unless the primary purpose of BSAC's "incident" reports (as well as BSAC's comments to the media about the reports) is to promote BSAC.
