Never mind the facts?...Kenny - Assistant Instructor/ScientificSeptember 13, 2006 at 09:00:28To correct Curtis, BSAC use the term "incidents" because that is exactly what they look to report. The
information collated comes from many sources; divers, coastguards, media reports etc. The annual report is not confined to deaths as you seem to suggest, neither is it confined to UK incidents. Please check (BSAC's web site) for the report on last year's incidents. I feel that a few people who have commented here obviously have no knowledge of the BSAC Incident Report or its goals. Essentially what they are trying to do is look for areas of common problems, and then use
that information to make training updates. Have a read through the report, and look back at previous years. You might read about an incident which would make you question what you personally might have done to prevent, or might give you an insight into how to react if such an incident should befall you. I'm sure we all want to make our diving, and that of our students as safe as possible, and that's what that report attempts to do. |
