Was the Mike Ball Spoil Sport crew negligent?...

According to the CDNN reports I read, both Gabe and Tina Watson had only recently been certified and did not have any diving experiences with currents and wrecks. So why would the Mike Ball Spoil Sport crew take them to dive the Yongala wreck in conditions that are not appropriate for beginners?  Isn't that professional negligence or is it the divers' fault because they signed liability waivers?

I understand and pretty much agree with the argument some divers make about taking responsibility for your own decisions. But isn't it hypocritical and negligent for Mike Ball and other dive operators to recommend that divers not exceed limits (related to training and experience), which they themselves often ignore in the diving activities they organize and supervise? For me it's a puzzling disconnect.
