Don't know where you heard the above quote, but you are wrong. State law only requires me to give that information when in the course of an investigation or appearing in court.  If I wrote a ticket, that information would be in the body of the ticket.

If you see me you can read my name tag and read my badge number but I'm not required to say it out loud.  My Agency name is on the badge and on the patches on each of my sleeves. In the course of my job I always hand out my calling card to witnesses etc.

However, since this has been about diving and I am an Instructor, I will tell you that I am certified by PADI and TDI. If you want to discuss this further then please contact me at [email protected].  Your request may be honored then provided I have some assurance that my personal and privileged information WILL NOT be read by just anyone.  You know that there are some real problem people out there.
