Safety considerations aside, I would not book with Hasson or Hughes...

Two points about Ken Elkins post.  First, trip insurance is expensive because the Aggressor and Peter Hughes (half the world's live-aboards???) are using it to line their own pockets. It's a scam. Their NO REFUND policies shift the burden of responsibility for weather cancellations etc to the customer who covers his ass with trip insurance.  In effect, all of us are paying to ensure that Hughes/Hasson never lose a dime. They don't pay anything for the benefits while our trip insurance rates continue to sky rocket. Second, not all live-aboard operators do this, in fact, Hasson and Hughes are very much in the minority. So it pays to shop around because you can save a bundle with operators who make refunds for weather cancellations etc from their own insurance policies.  Safety considerations aside, I would not book with either the Aggressor Fleet or Peter Hughes because of the hidden cost of being "forced" to buy trip insurance.
